North West Leicestershire District Council

The local District Council office is located in Coalville Town Centre, about 200m East of the clock tower.
The boundaries of the District Council are the same as the Parliamentary Constituency. This area includes Kegworth, Castle Donington, Hemington and Lockington in the North and East, Measham and Appleby Magna in the South, Ashby in the West, and Coalville and environs in the middle.

 

The District council has a number of functions including rubbish collection, local planning permissions, local subsidised housing, child protection & adoption, care for older people and some transport responsibilities. They also have responsibility for tourist attractions, leisure centres and parks.

The local District Council has direct responsibility for the controversial local housing plans, the planned opencast coal mining, the planning issues of the rail freight depot, and the regeneration of Coalville Town Centre.
