Keep Post Offices open in NW Leicestershire

Post offices are closing. Some are shut by the Post Office, which is badly run, and some because in-shop sub-Post Offices have unfair contracts with the Post Office which restrict what they can sell - and threaten their business.

Thousands of post offices across the UK are under threat of closure, leaving rural communities isolated, unless the government and local communities act to save them – both for closures determined by the Post Office and those because of restrictive contracts. On the former, 77 Post Offices were selected for closure as at the beginning of 2008 in the East Midlands. Of the latter no survey has yet been conducted. Many are a focal point of village life and supporters claim their survival is not simply a financial issue but important to the future of North West Leicestershire.
